Istanbul, Gallipoli and Troy – The Big Three!

Highlights: Istanbul Old city tour, ANZAC battlefield at Gallipoli, ancient legendary City of Troy tour, Bosphorus Cruise Istanbul.

Day 1, Transfer from the airport to our hotel in the heart of Istanbul’s Old City.

Day 2, Pick up from hotel and taken on a marvellous tour of the highlights of the Old City including Hagia Sofia museum, Topkapi Palace, the Blue Mosque, the Hippodrome and the Grand Bazaar. (BL)

Day 3, A free day to explore further afield. You may like to walk along Istiklal Caddesi in Taksim or have a waterpipe in Eyup at Pierre Loti’s Cafe or take a marvellous boat trip to the Prince’s Islands. (B)

Day 4, Today we depart Istanbul for our journey into the tragic past and explore the WW1 battlefield of Gallipoli where hundreds of thousands of Allied and Turkish troops died in a campaign that lasted 9 months but helped forge the national identities of Turkey, Australia and New Zealand. Overnight in nearby Canakkale. (BL)

Day 5, Today we leave the real world and venture back in time to a story of legendary heroes, beautiful women, Gods, Goddesses, ancient prophecies, a ten year siege and a controversial discovery. We will visit Troy, the real Troy with no Brad Pitt running around half naked! After the tour and lunch we will return to our hotel in Istanbul. (BL)

Day 6, We take to the water today. We pick you up from the hotel and you will visit the Egyptian Spice Bazaar and the walls of the Golden Horn before boarding our boat up the Bosphorus visiting palaces and fortresses and life on one of the world’s most ancient and famous trading routes. (BL)

Day 7, Today we say farewell. After breakfast and check out you are free until your transfer to the airport for your onward flight. We hope you have enjoyed this small example of Turkish culture and history.
